The western tower - observation deck

The western tower was most likely built during the expansion of the Castle during the reign of Casimir the Great. Among all the towers in the stronghold, it is certainly distinguished by its square shape, matching the line of the perimeter walls.

In the past, the entrance to its center was just at the present level, but without access from the ground level. To get to the front door, you had to go through wooden porches, located on the inside of the castle walls at a height of several meters. It is worth paying attention to the holes in the wall that used to support the beams, on which the boards were placed in a horizontal position. Inside the tower there are currently some interesting elements worth seeing. Going downstairs we will enter a narrow dungeon in which sits one of the convicts accused of robbery. You can even hear the clink of chains ... On the upper floors we can find photos from the gallery "Yesterday and Today" - a treat for history lovers. From the top of the tower, we can see in all its glory the medieval Chęciny and the surrounding area.
