When I for the first time from the far away Lithuania to this beautiful country arrived, I did not want to leave it. The same history was with Checiny! The walls of the castle have fascinated me, what a high towers! Oh, it was a fortified place…
I had a lot of enemies, but also had appropriate prisons for them! Just here, in the castle in Checiny many of them spent their punishment time. For instance, my half-brother, great rebel – Andrew Garbaty – his behaviour was so wicked, that I had to send him to this cellars. The same history was with Michael von Küchmeister, who was taken prisoner after the battle of Koronowo and sent him to the fortress in Checiny. One memorable year, during the pandemic time in Wawel, my beloved son Władysław in Checiny castle were protected.
Go the tourist on the top of the fortress, admire the work of your ancestors and remember about your king!
